Saving the Linden Endowment for the Arts - how YOU can help

Group to Save the LEA

Following the recent announcement of the imminent closure of the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA), in the Linden Endowment for the Arts group on Facebook there has been some discussion, some regrets expressed by artists and fans and - because this is the LEA - some acidic criticism.

On the whole, however, there has been a lot of positivity, with ideas emerging for ways in which the LEA can, as the Committee hoped, be restructured and carried forward by a whole new team. Some of the original group who set it up have expressed interest, as have people who have had regions at the LEA and people who simply care passionately about the arts in Second Life.

Not everyone has Facebook, of course, and in fact the Facebook group has now been closed to new members ahead of the anticipated shutdown of the shutdown on the LEA regions at the end of August. But Tansee (Resident), the well-known particle artist, and Riannah Avora have started an inworld group called LEA 2.0 The New Future~ SAVE LEA!

 This is what they say:
Join Group to SAVE The LEA Sandbox, AIR grants, Core grants and the future of SL Virtual Art and Creativity. Be Proactive . This is an opportunity for "Positive" voices to be heard and be a part of the continuing growth and innovation of virtual art and creativity at LEA with dignified and equal respect to all concerned artists. Please be specific with your suggestions. Offer reasonable solutions.

Tansee has further suggested:
In an effort to organize all the ideas and suggestions, please write them on a notecard and send them to me inworld (tansee.resident) or (rihanna avora). Be Specific with your ideas and the steps it will take to achieve the goals. We have 2 weeks to gather your ideas. After that time I will be sending them to The Lindens. After that the hope is to have a large meeting in The LEA Theater. Join the Group inworld to stay informed and have "productive ~ positive" chat. Here is our chance to put words into actions. PLEASE share this to all!
So ... I'm sharing here!

In addition, the group has placed information and a green ideas box (where you can drop notecards with your thoughts, suggestions and ideas) at the LEA Sandbox on LEA5.

If you care about the LEA having a future, please join the group and the discussion. Share your ideas - there'll never be a better time.
